Medicinal Spa of Bük - more than just a spa

The town is located on the east-western part of Vas county, at the meeting point of the Alps and the lowlands, 30 km from Szombathely, 46 km from Sopron and 20 km from Kőszeg, on the half way between Vienna and Lake Balaton.

The bath thanks its existence to a lucky accident: as a result of the oil research-drillings started in the 20s and continued in the 50s, a 65-70-metre high coloumn of water spouted to the surface from a debth of 1282 metres in 1957. The 58 °C warm water treasure including almost 14 000 mg/l minerals turned a new leaf in the life of town Bük and the surrounding settlements.

The medicinal waters of unique components - containing calcium-magnesium-fluoride and much carbonic acid gas - can be applied in a very useful way for the therapeutic treatment of locomotor diseases, gynecological problems and in the form of a drinking cure of digestive troubles.

The real boom started with the inauguration of the first half-covered pool in 1962. Since then, due to the continous development, Spa of Bük has become one of the best-known and most popular medical spa looking forward to your visit with 32 pools and a water surface of more than 5200 m².
